The past is your lesson

The present is your gift

The future is your poetry

Anita Bacha

My poetry book SOUL POETRY was yet another opportunity for me to travel and discover the reading world.

It’s incredible and worthy to note that books have a precious place in the heart of the millennial, our audience today and tomorrow.

At the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2018, I realized that it’s a great joy to witness readers, young and old, buying and investing in our words, in our poetry.

KRISHNA

KRISHNA, one of the many gods of Hinduism, is the embodiment of charismatic love, immaculate beauty, celestial joy and eternal youth. He is an incarnation of VISHNU, the Preserver in the triad of Gods Brahma Vishnu and Maheswara.

KRISHNA is so beautiful that he is often referred to as a doll. Many can’t make out from his overwhelmingly refined looks whether he is a man or a woman. Also known as being the perfect union between man and woman or between God and his devotee, he embodies the pleasure, emotion and everlasting rapture that is derived from love making.

In every incarnation, VISHNU meets up, adores and caresses his beloved wife LAKSHMI, the goddess of wealth, beauty, prosperity and knowledge. In His incarnation as KRISHNA, he finds LAKSHMI as his beloved RADHA, the embodiment of the perfect woman and lover.

KRISHNA is also known as the flute player. His enchanting music is known to make his devotees crazily fall in love with him.

KRISNA opens the heart to the pleasure of love. Wherever KRISHNA is installed, love beckons, love sings and dances; the soul is uplifted to celestial summit.

KRISNA is also known by other adorable names- Murali Gopala (the flute player), Chitchor (the stealer of hearts), and SRI (God), Shyama.

It is believed that if we see a statue of KRISHNA, we touch him, and we love him, we must take him and keep him.

‘Those who worship gods, become gods; those who worship ancestors become ancestors; those who worship the elements master the elements; and THOSE WHO WORSHIP ME GAIN ME!’- Bhagavad Gita 9.25

ODE TO MY BELOVED

You are born again and again

Like a flame in my heart, my Beloved!

My eyes marvel and rejoice at your sight

In the darkness you are my light!

In the void your voice is rapturous music

When you are with me nothing is amiss

Every droplet of rain is a cup of bliss

Every thorn is a budding lotus flower

Every woe is over and done forever!

CHICAGO

A few months ago, more precisely in May, I visited Chicago in Illinois in the company of my son, Toshlen.

My poetry book ‘Soul Poetry’ published by Partridge India was exhibited by the Combined Book Exhibit of New York at the Book Expo America.

I seized the opportunity to travel to America and I dragged Toshlen along. I was at my third visit to the States. For an unknown reason I am attracted to this country.

On 13 May, we took the bus from Dr. Martin Luther King, Mc Cormick Place to S Indiana Avenue. Toshlen gave me a treat of seafood in a posh restaurant.

On our way back, he clicked this photo and said

‘Ma, Donald Trump will win the elections in November!’

He pointed out to me the name ‘TRUMP’ on a building. Being short sighted,I could not see the name but Trump has indeed won the elections. Rough guess or prediction ⁉️

Festival of Lights

Hello my loving friends and followers,

In Mauritius and all around the world, Hindus are celebrating DIVALI, the Festival of Lights tonight

There are many religious, cultural and traditional reasons for this celebration depending on the region where you live or from where you originate in India

But wherever we are in the world, we celebrate the victory of Light over darkness, of Goodness over wrongdoing and of Knowledge over ignorance ❤️

POEMS

What does Buddha have to say about poems?

I found this profound citation in a magazine yesterday. I was at Terminal 4 Heathrow waiting to board the AirMauritius flight to Mauritius.

I was about to write this prompt on my blog-

The best part of a journey is the way back home

When I think about it,we are all engaged on a spiritual journey

The way back home and the ultimate destination is the same for all of us

Life is the most beautiful poem

AUTOGRAPH

When we write,we inscribe what we know

When we read, we discover what we do not know.

Jonathan Rabb, the American author, was pleasantly surprised.I queued up for his autograph at the BEA 2016.

“You are a published poet!”he exclaimed when I showed him my poetry book. “Where can I find your book?”

I pointed to the Combined Book Exhibit at the entrance of the book fair.

I devoured his proof in one gulp. His book ‘Among the Living’ was not published yet. A captivating love story of unequal beauty…set up in a land unknown to me until I came to the last page.
