KL Revisited

I return to Kuala Lumpur, after six months,to visit the best Oriental Osteo Care Clinic in Malaysia.

Worn knee caps, sciatica pain in the left upper leg imposed this visit,in this hot part of the world, upon me.

I am advised to eat fatty fish, salmon, mackerel, sardines to mention a few. I refrain from saying ‘I am a vegetarian’. My host ,instantly announces’to the fish market.’

He drives to the market at Hasar Besar,Taman Tun, Dr.Ismail.

We are welcomed with the surrounding joy of Christmas 🎄.

Everybody , the fish monger, the vegetable seller, the grocerer are all striving to make a living and others, are striving to live and are here to shop for food.

I respect others and I respect ✊ food.

I learned from the Bhagavad Gita ‘ there is God both in the dog and the dog eater.’

We buy 2 big Red Snapers, 2 bunches of watercress, root vegetables, fresh tomatoes and ‘fines herbes’to make a Mauritian speciality, the ‘Bouillabaisse de Poisson 🐟 ‘.  A ‘delice ‘ for the tongue when accompanied with boiled  white rice, ground coconut  and mashed potato chutneys.

INK

Inspired by Manache Poetry’s Next Awakening, I have written the second and last half of this poem.

The first half was complete but followed a systematic writer’s ( or lover’s) block. One sentence “do not let go of my hand” was all I needed to dip the nib of my pen in the ink pot of the vast ocean of  Love and write…

INK

In chaos, my world collapses,

My pen drops,

A wound on my ring finger,

Betrayed …

By my sister,

An ironic wasteland is my heart,

Dumped …

Love loses its eulogy,

Fragmented…

In a puzzle chemistry,

Poets run out of verses

Tumbled…

Face down in infamy;

Suddenly,

Loose petals of words,

Fall in cascades,

Cover my lifeless body,

Awakened…

From the torpor

Of self imposed penalty,

Wet…

Under the mosquito net,

Stained…

My bed linen,

With ink from your pen !

THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA

When people talk about ‘walls’, I immediately think about the Great Wall of China.

Originally constructed to ward off enemies, now a tourist attraction which brings thousands of people from all over the world together every year.

Reading, writing and books brought me to China in August last. I, the irresistible book worm, was at the Beijing International Book Fair. There is a saying here in China ‘you have not visited China,if you have not climbed the Great Wall. I did and believe me, at my age, it was more pain than pleasure. But I realized one thing of upmost importance -The World is Wonderful ..we must take time to live, not to make a living

CHICAGO

A few months ago, more precisely in May, I visited Chicago in Illinois in the company of my son, Toshlen.

My poetry book ‘Soul Poetry’ published by Partridge India was exhibited by the Combined Book Exhibit of New York at the Book Expo America.

I seized the opportunity to travel to America and I dragged Toshlen along. I was at my third visit to the States. For an unknown reason I am attracted to this country.

On 13 May, we took the bus from Dr. Martin Luther King, Mc Cormick Place to S Indiana Avenue. Toshlen gave me a treat of seafood in a posh restaurant.

On our way back, he clicked this photo and said

‘Ma, Donald Trump will win the elections in November!’

He pointed out to me the name ‘TRUMP’ on a building. Being short sighted,I could not see the name but Trump has indeed won the elections. Rough guess or prediction ⁉️

Festival of Lights

Hello my loving friends and followers,

In Mauritius and all around the world, Hindus are celebrating DIVALI, the Festival of Lights tonight

There are many religious, cultural and traditional reasons for this celebration depending on the region where you live or from where you originate in India

But wherever we are in the world, we celebrate the victory of Light over darkness, of Goodness over wrongdoing and of Knowledge over ignorance ❤️
